Andrew and Yen Yen's union reminded me very much of my own wedding as he's Portuguese and she's Chinese - and he speaks perfect Chinese too!

the difference in race aside, they're a wonderful couple.. the wedding had a bit of everything as romance (he sang her a song during the reception!), laughter, spirituality, etc.

Hi all, I know I said actual day, but have since decided to go with a pre-wedding shoot instead due to scheduling purposes. As promised, below are the terms for applications for the shoot.

1. Open to all whose income is below RM2000 p/month individually.

2. Those who wish to apply only need send me an e-mail to Jason@camworkphoto.com with the following details: a. Full name of both Bride & groom b. A mailing address c. Contact numbers (preferably mobile) of both. d. Complete the following: "I would like for Camwork to shoot our wedding pictures because.." e. Include a recent picture (low res jpg file will do) of both f. Bride & Groom to be’s joint total monthly income

3. Deliverables: a. Half-day Pre-Wedding Portraiture shoot by me (Jason Victor) b. Make-up and Hair c. DVD Slideshow of selected images d. A 10 x 12 album

4. Terms and conditions: a. All applications will be kept confidential. b. Only 1 couple will be selected and will be notified via e-mail or phone call. c. The location of the shoot will be at the discretion of Camwork Photo. d. The duration and concept of the shoot will be at the discretion of Camwork Photo. e. The shoot period will be within the month of April 2009. The specific date will be at the discretion of Camwork Photo. At least 1 month’s notice will be given to the couple of the shoot date. f. Camwork Photo retains the rights to use the resulting images produced for marketing purposes. g. Closing date for applications is 31st January 2009, and the selected couple will be notified by 15th February 2009.

Yes, it's an absolutely free shoot that i'm giving away.. no catch, just a free shoot to 1 lucky couple within a certain income bracket.

It has been a tiring week to say the least, what with my preparation for the qualification interview for the MPA, as well as the trip to Singapore for it, and then attending the Yervant workshop, all in the space of 1 week.

But, as the week comes to a close, i prepare to come home with a feeling and sense of achievement having qualified as a member of the MPA as well as having picked up many valuable tips and techniques from perhaps THE best Wedding Photographer in the world, Yervant. But over and above these, i must say that what i found most fulfilling was the fellowship that accompanied these events. Meeting up, getting to know and comparing notes with photographers from across the region was a real eye opener.

Most that were present shared the sentiment that it was indeed a positive step for such gatherings towards bringing photography prefession to a level it belongs, to gain more recognition that it currently has. To that end, much thanks firstly the MPA, fantastic individuals such as Jim Liaw, Matthew Tan, Charlie Lim, Ryan Teck, Yervant and the rest of the gang.

And i'd give a special shout out of thanks to Charlie, Matthew and Agnes for having made us feel very welcome, you've made our stay a very memorable one. Oh, and my very good friend Waldersee, thanks for inviting us to stay over, it was great!

Having witnessed and felt the enthusiam of all involved, i am glad that i am apart of the ongoing efforts of the MPA and would like to urge all Malaysian full-time professionals to come join us in qualifying for the MPA as next year, the as yet unconfirmed plan is for the qualifications to be held right here in Kuala Lumpur! As the news of Barack Obama's historic victory in the Us Presidential elections filtered through, i found it interesting that there is so much interest on the matter among Malaysians. Sure, Malaysia and indeed Malaysians at large will be affected in some way as a result of this victory but the interest in this particular president among locals is such that i'm seeing chants & cheers (on facebook) of support for him.. it's as if they live IN the US..

Not that i'm complaining, i'm actually glad he won.. he'll probably make the US likeable again.. but really, what's the deal? Perhaps it's much like the case of English football vs local football (if you can call it football) where the state and quality is so poor that many of us adopt the English league as OUR league.. I certainly do.. If that's the case, i can relate cause lord knows what it's like here politically.. not to get into that too much, but i just wonder.. when will we see a Malaysian Barack Obama? let me rephrase that, will we ever see a Malaysian version of Barack Obama? if yes, faster please..

It's been a really long time since we last had a shoot in FRIM and so it was refreshing to go back recently when I did Jesmin & Heng Soon's pre-wedding portrait session.. I didn't want to use the same 'ol spots so i took the initiative to recce a few days before.. interestingly, i found a couple of new spots (at least they're new to me) and was quite pleased with the results.. will be posting up more of the pics in the next couple of days..
